Members of Pepperdine Staff Don Moustaches in Support of Movember
Nov. 30, 2011
MALIBU, Calif. – During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the U.S. and around the world. With their moustaches, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. Several of the men on the Pepperdine Athletics staff took part in the fundraiser, which was spearheaded by assistant women’s volleyball coach Tim Jensen.
If you'd like to find out more about the programs funded by Movember, please visit http://us.movember.com/about.
Jensen, the women’s volleyball team and the rest of the Pepperdine athletics staff have been active in several community service projects this year including “Dig Pink” to raise awareness for breast cancer, September’s “Waves of Flags” tribute to the victims of 9/11 and the upcoming “Clothes4Souls” t-shirt drive.
Although the month of November is nearly over, you can still become a “Mo Bro” or “Mo Sista” and donate to the cause. Visit https://www.movember.com/us/register/details/team_id/370476 to join Jensen’s Movember team.
The funds raised in the U.S. support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and their men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with their strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
