West Coast Conference Names Kim Hill Player of the Week

MALIBU, Calif. – Junior opposite side hitter Kim Hill of the Pepperdine women’s volleyball team was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Waves in victories over Portland and Gonzaga.

Hill (Portland, Ore./Portland Christian HS) opened the week with her second career double-double in front of her hometown crown versus the Pilots.  In addition to 13 kills on offense, she had a stellar night on the defensive end with five blocks and career-best 15 digs.

She followed that up with 14 kills on a .481 success rate versus Gonzaga on Saturday.   In the third set alone, she was 3-for-4 on the attack and served up the final five points to lead Pepperdine past the Bulldogs, 25-4.

In two matches and 67 attempts, Hill committed just two attack errors to finish the week with a .373 hitting percentage.  She led all hitters with 19 digs and led the team with nine blocks.

Hill has been a go-to threat for the Waves all season long.  She leads the team with 295 kills, while boasting an attack percentage of .281.  The junior averages .96 blocks per set and has tallied a team-best 29 service aces.

This is Hill’s first Player of the Week honor of her career and third for the Waves this season.  Victoria Adelhelm (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) was named WCC Co-Player of the week on Sept., 6, 2010, while Lilla Frederick (Huntington Beach, Calif./Cornelia Connelly HS) received recognition on Oct. 18, 2010. 

Pepperdine concludes the regular season at home this week with matches versus #14 San Diego and Saint Mary’s.  The Waves are currently tied for second with the Gaels in the West Coast Conference standings and the Toreros ranks first with a perfect 12-0 league record.

The Waves square of with SDU at 7 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 18.  SMC makes a stop at Firestone Fieldhouse on Sat., Nov. 20.  First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
