Tanner Adds Talent to Roster

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine women's volleyball head coach Troy Tanner will add four student-athletes to his roster, he announced today. Freshmen Kelli Gerrans, Katie Lespier and Ashley Morgan, as well as transfer Chanel Brown, will suit up for the Waves during Tanner's first season at the helm.
The quartet of newcomers will also be joined by Allie Loitz, who signed on with Pepperdine last November.
Here's a look at Tanner's latest additions:
Brown Notes: Spent first two years of college career as the starting setter for Florida, before playing for Arizona as a junior ... Helped direct Gators to the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals as a freshman and the regional finals as a sophomore ... 2010 SEC All-Freshman Team ... Averaged 5.59 assists per set as a rookie managing a 6-2 offense ... Averaged 5.68 assists per set and 1.38 digs per set for the Gators as a sophomore ... Averaged 6.55 assists per set with Arizona in 2012 ... Directed Valley Christian High School to the Arizona State Championship as the event's Most Valuable Player in 2009 ... Two-time AVCA National Player of the Week and a one-time Tachikara National Player of the Week... Named to PrepVolleyball.com's list of Senior Aces ... A four-time all-state selection ... Was the first freshman in Arizona high school history to be named to the all-state team.

Gerrans Notes: Graduated from Archbishop Mitty High School in 2014 ... Helped Monarchs to the 2012 and 2013 CIF Division II State volleyball championship ... Also claimed the Central Coast Section (CCS) and West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) championships in 2012 and 2013 ... Boasted highest GPA on the varsity squad as both a junior and senior ... Earned the Academic Junior-Scholar Athlete award and the Academic Senior-Scholar Athlete award ... Ended club career at Encore ... Member of the A2 16-1 Junior National Beach team ... Brother Kyle played for the Pepperdine men's volleyball team.
Gerrans on Pepperdine: "I thought I wanted a big school setting but after visiting and meeting some people here on campus I changed my mind. I realized I would thrive in this setting because the Pepperdine faculty was so incredibly awesome"
Tanner on Gerrans: "Kelli is a fitness juggernaut who loves to compete. We're expecting her pervasive, positive energy to impact the entire team, and the staff is excited to begin working with her.
Lespier Notes: Graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 2014 ... Attended Edison High School from 2010-13 ... Was an All-Sunset League second team performer as a junior ... Led Huntington Beach to a first round CIF victory with 12 digs, three aces and a pair of blocks ... Won the Sunset League Championship with Edison in 2011 ... Reached the finals of the Ann Kang Tournament with HBHS in 2013 ... Member of the TStreet Volleyball Club since age 16 ... Spent two seasons with the Surf City Volleyball Club prior to that ... Placed third at the 2013 USA Volleyball Junior National Championship 18 USA Division with TStreet and was placed on the all-tournament team.

Lespier Notes: Graduated from Canyon High School in 2014 ... Spent four years on the varsity squad as the libero ... All-Century League first team pick as a junior and senior ... Voted team's Most Valuable Player in 2013 ... Two-year team captain ... Winner of the Reed Smoke Award in 2011 (MVP selected by former coach) ... Three-time Best Defensive Player award winner ... Four-time Scholar Athlete ... Four-year member of the Principal's Honor Roll ... Member of the Tstreet Volleyball Club from 2013-14 ... Also competed for the Impact and Goldenwest volleyball clubs ... Won bronze with Tstreet in the 18 USA division of the 2013 USA Volleyball Junior National Championship ... Qualified for the Junior National Championship in 2012, 2013 and 2014 ... Team Captain in 2014.
