Jan. 25, 2005
Volleyball players ranging from fifth through 11th grades will have the opportunity to learn skills from one of the game's top teachers in Nina Matthies. Two camps will be offered with the Basic Skills Camp running August 8 -11, while the advanced session will take place from July 11-15.
Basic skills day camp (5th -11th grade) will focus on the fundamental aspects of volleyball as the coaching staff and current players demonstrate and explain techniques, tactics and systems. All campers are place in groups that correspond to their age and talent level. Cost for the camp is $325 and includes an all-you-can-eat lunch in the school's cafeteria.
Advanced camp (8th-12th grade) focuses on improving the individual skills of each and every camper through skills, movement and teamwork drills. The campers will hone their skills on the beach from one of the "20 Legends of Beach Volleyball" in Matthies, as well as on the Pepperdine campus, with each camper getting instruction in game and individual settings. Overnight campers will be housed in Pepperdine's dormitory suites with camp personnel supervision. Cost of the camp ranges from $575 for resident campers to $500 for commuter campers.
