Pepperdine Shuts Out Air Force in Final Tune Up Before NCAA Tournament

MALIBU, Calif. – The #18-ranked Pepperdine women’s volleyball team concluded the regular season with a 3-0 sweep over Air Force tonight inside Firestone Fieldhouse. Kim Hill collected 16 kills and Samantha Cash added 10 to lead the Waves.
With the 3-0 win (25-9, 25-6, 25-10), Pepperdine improves to 22-6 overall heading into the NCAA Tournament, which begins on December 1. The Waves learn their first round opponent this Sunday, Nov. 27 when the bracket is announced on ESPNU at 3 p.m.
Hill (Portland, Ore./Portland Christian HS) tagged down her 16 kills on a season-best .714 hitting percentage. Cash (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy) amplified her career-best clip to .769 after recording 10 kills on 13 errorless swings. The freshman middle blocker added five blocks to bring her season average to 1.25.
Kellie Woolever (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS) and Justine Hunter (Hollister, Calif./San Benito HS) shared setting duties tonight, and helped the Waves achieve a season-best .697 hitting percentage. Woolever tallied 23 assists, while Hunter, who entered the match in the second frame, totaled a career-high 11.
Junior middle blocker Victoria Adelhelm (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) was a perfect 7-for-7 on the attack, while Katie Messing (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) posted eight kills on 11 attempts and no errors.
Stevi Robinson (Hermosa Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) paced the defense with a match-best nine digs, while Hill added six.
The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament begin on Thursday, Dec. 1 and run through Saturday, Dec. 3. Once the bracket it released on Sunday, it will be posted on www.PepperdineSports.com. Pepperdine, ranked #18 in the AVCA Coaches’ Poll, boasts an RPI of #14.
