#13 Waves Crash Titans, 3-0

MALIBU, Calif. - The #13 Pepperdine women's volleyball team recorded its first home win of the season, topping Cal State Fullerton in three sets on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Taylor Racich and senior Victoria Adelhelm were the stars of the match, combining for 27 kills.
It was the Waves' third sweep of the season, winning by set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.
Racich (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos HS), in her first start of the season, led the Waves with 17 kills earned on a blazing .438 (17 kills-3 errors-32 attempts) hitting percentage. The freshman added five digs and five blocks for a match-high 19.5 points.
It was a near-record setting day for Adelhelm (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS), who tallied 10 kills on 14 errorless attacks for a career-high .714 clip. Sophia Milo holds Pepperdine's single-match record for hitting percentage with .833. Milo went 16-for-18 with just one error on Oct. 7, 2005 against San Francisco.
Adelhelm was a force on defense as well, leading the match with six blocks.
Overall, the Waves hit .281 (48-14-121) while limiting the Titans to a .143 (40-22-126) success rate on the attack.
Pepperdine's offense got another boost from Jazmine Orozco (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood HS/Illinois), who was credited with 13 kills. The junior has now reached double-digit kill totals in the last three matches.
Kellie Woolever (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS) quarterbacked the offense with 36 assists, and a season-high 18 digs.
Cal State Fullerton (2-3, 0-2 Asics Classic) was led by Bre Moreland, who posted 17 kills.
Pepperdine (3-1, 1-0 Asics Classic) faces off with Arizona (3-1, 1-0 Asics Classic) at 7:30 p.m. this evening to wrap up action at the Asics Classic. Winner of the match takes first prize at the tournament.
