08/16/2012 2012 Women's Volleyball Season OutlookPepperdine looks to defend its West Coast Conference title in 2012 with eight returning players and five newcomers. Jon Dazé begins his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Pepperdine women's indoor and sand volleyball team in 2013-14. During the 2012-13 season, the Waves reached the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd time in the indoor program's history and finished runner-up at the 2013 AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championship. Dazé, a 2006 graduate of UC San Diego, has been coaching volleyball for over 10 years at the club, high school and collegiate levels. In 2012, Dazé completed his 10thseason as a club coach for Laguna Beach Volleyball Club, and has led his teams to four top-three finishes at national tournaments in his last four seasons. In 2008, his first year as a club head coach, Dazé led his U-15 team to a Junior Nationals silver medal finish. Dazé joined the Sports Shack Volleyball Club in 2013 and spent the season coaching the 16-1 team. Dazé's experience coaching at the collegiate level includes stints at Concordia University and Irvine Valley College. He served as the top assistant for the Eagles for two seasons, including a semester as the interim head coach. While there, Dazé helped produce five AVCA NAIA All-Americans. During the 2011 season, he served as assistant coach for Corona del Mar girls' varsity squad. The team finished the season as CIF Division I-AA finalists. As a player, Dazé was a standout outside hitter at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. He played two seasons at Irvine Valley College, earning all-conference and team MVP honors both years. He went on to play at UCSD and later overseas in Denmark and Sweden. |
