Waves Sweep Matador Invitational

Bianca Dulgheru and Sylvia Kosakowski won the doubles crown, while Anamika Bhargava won the singles crown of the Matador Invitational.


 

  
 

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's tennis team swept the doubles and singles crowns at the Matador Invitational, as the doubles team of Bianca Dulgheru and Sylvia Kosakowski captured the doubles crown, 8-4, over their teammates Anamika Bhargava and Anete Bandere. In singles competition, Bhargava defeated Dulgheru, 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 to claim the singles crown. The Matador Invitational concludes the Waves' fall schedule, as they will open up the spring duel meet season on Jan. 20, 2008 against Cal Poly. Below are the final results of the Matador Invitational.

 

Singles A: 

 

Tania Rice defeated  Victoria Brymer (CSUN), 7-6: (7-5), Ret., lost to Dulgheru, 6-5, 6-2

Bianca Dulgheru defeated Tania Rice, 6-5, 6-2, defeated Jill Damion (UCSB) 7-6, 6-2., lost to Bhargava, 7-6 (7-0), 6-2.

Alex Liles defeated Kanykey Koichumanova (CSUN), 6-1, 5-7, 6-4., lost to Damion 6-4, 6-2.

Anamika Bhargava defeated Laura Baum (BSU): 6-4, 6-1, defeated Marta Simic (UCSB) 6-5, 6-3, defeated Dulgheru 7-6(7-0), 6-2.

Anete Bandere lost to Simic, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 

Sylvia Kosakowski defeated Canna Furuta (CSUN), 6-0, 6-3, lost to Bhargava, 6-0, 6-3.

 

Doubles A:

 

Liles/Rice defeated Damion/Onaga (UCSB), 9-8, lost to Bandere/Bhargava, 8-3

Bandere/Bhargava defeated Brymer/Koichumanova: 8-3, defeated Liles/Rice, 8-3

Dulgheru/Kosakowski defeated Baum. Mackova (BSU), 8-5, defeated Bhargava/Bandere, 8-4

 

Singles C:

 

Marigrace Marshall lost to Juliette Mutzke (UCSB), 6-1, 6-0.

Raine Mitchell defeated Breanna Stowell (UCSB), 6-2, 6-4, lost to Mia Giovanetti (UCSB), 6-4, 7-5.
