No. 28 Women's Tennis Defeats Long Beach State 6-1 to Remain Undefeated

Malibu, Calif. - Backed by a sweep of the six singles matches, the No. 28 Pepperdine women's tennis team defeated No. 57 Long Beach State 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Ralphs-Strauss Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif. With the win, the Waves remained undefeated at 4-0, while the 49ers fell to 0-2 on the season.
In doubles, senior Natalie Braverman and junior Caroline Raba recorded a victory in the No. 3 position after defeating Krystina Katayama and Rachael Porsz 8-3, but it was not enough to win the point as the teams in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions lost.
The Waves came back in victorious fashion as they each brought down their opponent in singles. Braverman, junior Eva Dickes, and sophomore Sylvia Kosakowski all registered their fourth straight victory in singles. Braverman defeated Sandra Rocha 6-3, 7-5, while Dickes handed Jessica Weeks a 6-3, 7-6 defeat. Kosakowski easily put away Katy Williams 7-6, 6-0. Bianca Dulgheru, Raba and Merve Asimgil also picked up wins for the Waves.
Pepperdine takes a break from dual meets to compete in the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Madison, Wis. beginning Thursday, February 2 through Sunday, February 5.
