Waves Battle at Matador Invitational

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Over the last two days, Pattaraporn Salirathavibhaga, Danielle Feneridis and Miquela Newhart battled at the Matador Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge. Salirathavibhaga reached her flight’s singles semifinal to highlight the weekend’s action.
Salirathavibhaga (Bangkok, Thailand/International School Bangkok) made the deepest run in the tournament for the Waves, reaching the semifinals of Flight B. The freshman topped Cal State Fullerton’s Jessica Pepa 6-2, 6-2 before downing Kate Bergeson of UC Riverside, 6-4, 6-4.
In the semifinals, the freshman fell to Montana’s Laurence Pelchat 6-2, 6-2.
Danielle Feneridis (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls HS) exited Flight A in the quarterfinals, but rebounded with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Kristen Poei in consolation.
Miquela Newhart (Boulder, Colo./Boulder HS) lost twice in Flight C to wrap her weekend.
Feneridis and Salirathavibhaga battled fiercely in doubles, but fell twice in the tiebreaker.
Pepperdine will be back in action for their two final fall season tournaments, beginning next week Thursday, Nov. 7. Lorraine Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) will be New York City bound for the USTA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship. The junior was announced as an at-large selection earlier this week. Other select members of the team will compete at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational on Nov. 7-10.
