MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team gears up for perhaps the biggest meet of the 2011-12 season thus far, the Cal Poly Mustang Invitational on Nov. 11-12.

The Waves will compete in more than two dozen events in the two-day span, beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday with the 1,650 freestyle.

Divers, including Leslie Wade (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School), Kristin Scribner (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS), Klaire Korver (Redwood City, Calif./Pinewood School) and Amber Seba (Flower Mound, Texas/Marcus HS), will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events on both Friday and Saturday.

The swimmers will stay equally busy, as most of the Waves are schedule to compete in a maximum six individual events.

Lone senior swimmer Madison Krall (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Centennial HS) will swim in the 1,650 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 400 IM and 200 medley relay on Friday, followed by the 1,000 freestyle, 200 IM and 400 medley relay on Saturday.

Shannon Adkins (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS) is entered in the 200 and 500 freestyle races, and the 200 backstroke. Last time out, the junior placed ninth in the 200 back with a time of 2:17.22 at the Malibu Invitational.

Last season, Pepperdine scored 205 points in the team standings to finish in fifth place. The Waves lowered several season-best times at the event, and will look to continue that trend at this season's meet.

A strong crop of freshmen, who have already shown improvement during the Waves' two prior events, will likely add more points for the team at they strive to better last year's score..

Freshman Kelly Corso (Glendora, Calif./Glendora HS) was the high point scorer for Pepperdine in the sprints at the Malibu Invitational a few weeks ago, and placed in the top-10 in four separate events including the 200 IM, 50 and 100 breastrokes and 200 butterfly.
