MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team earned Scholar All America Team honors as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for the spring 2012 semester. Of the over 120 Division I programs recognized, the Waves were tied for the 31st-best grade point average.

The Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in a single semester.

The Waves, who finished eighth at the 2012 Pacific Coast Swim & Dive Conference Championship, boast a spring semester GPA of 3.40, the best of any PCSC school. Last fall, Pepperdine ranked second in the league after registering a 3.28.

Clemson and Alabama led all Division I schools with a 3.62 GPA.

Cal State East Bay, a Division II institution, was the only other PCSC school to make the list with a 3.21 team GPA.

The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team has a long standing tradition of academic success. Klaire Korver (Redwood City, Calif./Pinewood School) was honored as the 2012 Pepperdine Athletics Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, marking the second-straight season the award has been claimed by a member of the swim and dive team. Korver was an All-PCSC performer in the 3-meter springboard, and finished her junior campaign with a 3.80 cumulative GPA.

In addition to Korver, six Pepperdine swimmers and one diver also picked up All-PCSC accolades including Shannon Adkins (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS), Sarah Burris (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox HS), Kelly Corso (Glendora, Calif./Glendora HS), Stephanie Ertl (Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS), Brooke Hawley (Plano, Texas/Plano West HS), Madison Krall (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Centennial HS) and Kristin Scribner (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS).
