Sarah Burris

Position:
Assistant Coach

Experience:
2nd year

Pepperdine graduate and four-year swimming standout Sarah Burris joined the swimming & diving team's staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2013-14 season.

Burris also began serving as the co-pool manager in 2014.

Burris graduated from Pepperdine in 2013 with a degree in psychology, all while pacing the Waves in the pool. She earned All-Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference honors in multiple events all four seasons. As a senior, she was named a Female Walk-On Athlete of the Year finalist by College Swimming and Diving Honors - an award that went to fellow teammate Klaire Korver.

A backstroke specialist, Burris produced the team's top-times at the 50 and 100 yard distances as a sophomore, junior and senior. She also led the Waves in the 200 backstroke during her final year competing in the pool. She ended her Pepperdine career at the 2013 PCSC Championship, picking up top-10 finishes in both the 100 and 200 backstroke races.

She was also a mainstay on the Waves' all-conference performing relay teams.

Away from the pool, Burris made her presence known at the 2012 Los Angeles County Lifeguard test. Out of over 350 male and female participants, Burris placed 78th overall in the 1000-meter ocean swim to advance to the interview stage of the tryout process. After a successful run in rookie school, she now currently serves as an LA County Lifeguard. She recently passed the first battery of tests as she works towards becoming an LA County Firefighter.
