Waves Cap Trip to South Carolina with 5-0 Sweep Versus Mercer

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - The Pepperdine women's sand volleyball team earned its fourth-consecutive sweep of the weekend with a 5-0 victory versus Mercer. Through four matches at the College of Charleston Sand Volleyball Classic, the Waves did not drop a single set. Summer Ross (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad Seaside Academy) and Caitlin Racich (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos HS) were dominant in the No. 1 match versus Jamie Duffy and Cassie Roy, defeating the Bears 21-7, 21-10. Ross tallied 18 kills and 16 digs, while Racich added nine kills and four aces. In the No. 2 spot in the lineup, Kim Hill (Portland, Ore./Portland Christian HS) and Lilla Frederick (Huntington Beach, Calif./Cornelia Connelly HS) downed Monica Sanchez and Jennifer Katona 21-13, 21-14. The Wave duo combined for 21 kills and five aces. Kelley Larsen (Jamul, Calif./Christian HS) and Stevi Robinson (Hermosa Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) won their fifth-straight match with a 21-13, 21-13 triumph over Caroline Carlton and Emily Rochefort. Victoria Adelhelm (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) and Kellie Woolever (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS) improved to 12-2 on the season after topping Zoe Becton and Madison Petsos 21-9, 21-15.
Michaela Christiaansen (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge HS) and Emily Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS), playing at No. 5, allowed just 15 total points in their straight-set win versus Charlayna Braxton and Lizze Knapper. The Wave duo out-killed the Bears 17-7. The Waves host dual matches on April 5 and April 7 when they welcome Long Beach State and USC, respectively. Pepperdine's home sand located at Zuma Beach.
