Oct. 29, 2004
The Pepperdine women's soccer team and No. 23 San Diego played to a 0-0 tie in a West Coast Conference (WCC) match Friday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
With the tie, the Waves moved to 8-5-3 overall and 1-3-2 in WCC play while the Toreros saw their record go to 10-7-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in conference action.
Pepperdine held a statistical advantage in the contest as it out-shot San Diego, 15-5, including a 9-3 edge in shots-on goal. The Waves had a number of scoring chances throughout the match but Toreros' goalkeeper Karen Cook came up on several occasions as she totaled nine saves.
San Diego's best scoring chance came late in the second overtime period when Amy Epsten got behind a Waves' defender but was unable to get a shot off as junior goalkeeper Anna Picarelli and prevented Epsten from getting off a shot.
Pepperdine closes out its 2004 home schedule on Sunday when it hosts Detroit in a non-conference match at Tari Frahm Rokus Field beginning at 1 p.m.
