Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss against San Francisco on Friday night in a West Coast Conference (WCC) match at Negoesco Stadium. The loss moved the Waves to 1-2-1 in the WCC and 10-3-2 overall, while the Dons improved to 2-2-0 in the WCC and 4-11-2 overall.
The Waves took the lead in the first few minutes of the match to set the pace of the game. Senior Megan Woods played the ball down the field and drove it towards the goal. Before the first half ended, USF evened the score when a cross on a free kick deflected off a Wave defender and into Pepperdine's goal at the 30:17 mark.
The teams battled throughout the second half and as each team prepared to enter overtime, junior forward Chelsea Hunt booted the ball into the net at the 89:18 mark to put the Dons up 2-1 and secure the win.
The Waves out-shot USF 13-12, including seven shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Anna Picarelli registered five saves.
