No. 8 Pepperdine Rallies For 2-1 Victory Over San Diego On Friday

The No. 8 Pepperdine women's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 second half deficit, scoring two goals in the span of eight minutes, to defeat host San Diego, 2-1, in a West Coast Conference (WCC) match Friday night at Torero Stadium.
Pepperdine improved to 12-2-0 overall and ran its WCC-winning streak eight in row with the victory. San Diego fell to 6-5-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference action.
Junior midfielder Ali Pavoni was credited with the game-winning goal when she scored at the 78:25 mark after a failed clearance by a San Diego defender deflected off her and went into the goal.
San Diego took a 1-0 lead when freshman defender Brooke Roby scored at the 49:26 mark. Seniors Katie Allen and Marie Claude-Henry were credited with assists on the play.
The Waves tied the score at the 41:34 mark when junior defender Ashley Swanson lobbed a ball into freshman forward Jennifer Brewer, who shot the ball past senior goalkeeper Libby Bassett for the tying goal.
Pepperdine continues road action this weekend it travels to the Bay Area to face nationally-ranked Santa Clara at Buck Shaw Stadium on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
