Pepperdine Defeats Cal State Fullerton 1-0 In A Non-Conference Match On Friday

Behind an early goal from sophomore midfielder Kelsey Quane and a strong defensive performance, the No. 6 Pepperdine women's soccer team registered a 1-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton Friday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
The win improved Pepperdine to 9-2-0 on the season and marked the team's eighth shutout of the season, moving the Waves to within one of tying the single-season record of nine established in 2000.
Cal State Fullerton dropped to 6-4-0 on the year.
Quane scored at the 9:44 mark when she took a cross from sophomore forward Megan Woods in the front of the goal and drilled a shot past Cal State Fullerton goalkeeper Laura Jenke.
In a match that was dominated by defense, Pepperdine outshot Cal State Fullerton, 11-5, including a 5-3 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Pepperdine will travel to UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, October 9, to face the Gauchos at Harder Stadium beginning at 7 p.m. It will mark the Waves' final non-conference match before opening West Coast Conference (WCC) against rival Loyola Marymount on Sunday, October 12, beginning at 1 p.m.
