No. 18 Pepperdine Defeats Eastern Michigan 2-0 Saturday Night in Hawaii
Sept. 4, 2005
WAIPAHU, HI - Junior forwards Jennifer Brewer and Lindsey Redlin each scored goals to lead No. 18 Pepperdine to a 2-0 victory over Eastern Michigan and the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Soccer Classic title Saturday night at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Waves, who defeated host Hawaii by an identical 2-0 score Friday evening, improved to 4-0 on the season.
The Waves controlled the match from start to finish and were never severely tested by the Eagles, who dropped to 1-2.
Pepperdine got on the board quickly as Brewer maneuvered to the middle of the field and sent a 25-yard rocket to back of the net at the 12:29 mark.
Redlin also scored for the Waves on another shot from distance, as her bender from 30-plus yards out got past Eagles goalkeeper Andrea Bouldin in the 80th minute.
Pepperdine out-shot Eastern Michigan 17-6. The Eagles were unable to penetrate the Waves defense for much of the game, recording their first shot of the game in the last minute of the first half, and failing to generate any corner kicks for the match.
Pepperdine returns to action on Friday when it travels to San Diego to face Kansas in the San Diego Tournament.
