Women's Soccer Adds Casey Bay to 2007 Class
May 29, 2007
MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine women's soccer coach Tim Ward announced the signing of Casey Bay to finish out the recruiting class of 2007 for the Waves Monday morning.
"We are so pleased and excited to have Casey join our program," said Coach Ward. "She is a gifted player and very potent attacking personality. She has proven to be one of the most consistent goal scorers in the Southern California soccer scene over the course of the last four years. In addition, her ability to create goal scoring opportunities for her teammates is a quality we value just as highly."
Bay's statistics back up Coach Ward's optimism.
She has been a stand out at Southern California powerhouse Los Alamitos High School where she helped the Griffins capture a CIF Championship and three Sunset League Championships during her prep career. During that time, Bay was a four-time All-Sunset League First Team selection all and was honored as the leagues Most Valuable Player in 2007 following a stellar senior campaign. In addition, Bay was named as an All-CIF first team selection and a first team All-County selection for her efforts during the 2006-07 high school season.
Bay will be the fifth Los Alamitos player to wear a Pepperdine uniform as Kristi Bissonnette (2000-03), Susan Palmer (2000-03), along with current Waves Erin Bay and Sophia Medina have all played at Pepperdine by way of Los Al.
Besides her high school accolades, Bay is also a member of the Southern California Blues soccer club which is considered to be one of the best youth club systems in the United States.
"The most exciting thing about Casey is her character," said Coach Ward. "We are big fans of the Bay family as we already have Casey's sister Erin in our program. At the end of the day, our staff really enjoys working with strong, intelligent women of character who wish to compete at the highest level both on and off the soccer field. With Casey Bay, we feel we have one of the best."
