MALIBU, Calif. – Sophomore forward Lynn Williams was selected to train with the U-23 Women’s National Team as announced by U.S. Soccer Monday. Williams (Fresno, Calif./Buchanan HS) will train with the squad May 11-18 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.

Williams is one of 22 collegiate players selected by U.S. head coach Randy Waldrum. The training camp roster includes seven players from the U.S. squad that captured the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan.

“We're proud of Lynn and we feel she is super deserving of this opportunity,” Pepperdine head coach Tim Ward said. “To play at the highest level takes a lot of attributes and we feel Lynn has those qualities. We feel she has the ability to play at the highest level in the women’s game. This is another step for her in her soccer education and we are confident that she will do really well in this camp.”

Williams captured NSCAA All-West Region first team honors in her second season in Malibu after earning second team honors as a freshman. An All-WCC First Team pick in 2012, Williams led the league in shots (4.62), ranked tied for sixth in goals (8) and shared ninth in points (19). Williams recorded her first career hat trick against Saint Mary’s (11/1) and registered three game-winners, two coming in WCC play: against No. 17 Santa Clara (10/14) and at Gonzaga (10/28).

Williams is the third student-athlete in program history selected to train with the U.S. National Team. Former Wave standouts Megan Woods and Anna Picarelli earned invitations to participate at the US Soccer Under 21 Women's National Team camp following the 2005 season.
