MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine put together its strongest offensive performance of the season and dispatched Fresno State 3-1 Sunday afternoon behind two goals from Ally Holtz. The Waves (5-3-1) dominated possession and attacked relentlessly against the Bulldogs (3-5-1).

Holtz (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) turned in her first two goals of the season and the first multi-goal match of her career with two finishes in the first half. Holtz opened up scoring in the 25th minute with a point blank finish off a feed from All-American candidate Lynn Williams (Fresno, Calif./Bullard HS).

"I'm really proud of the way this team responded," Pepperdine head coach Tim Ward said. "Friday was disappointing - the result, not the performance. This team continues to show its character and did a great job of bouncing back. You can see we're just getting better and better every game. Today was our best offensive performance in terms of maintaining possession and creating legitimate chances. Their keeper was excellent today. We could have easily scored five or six goals today, but she made two or three ridiculous saves."

Fresno State answered just over a minute later as Kayla Kret found the back of the net in a melee in the box. It was all Pepperdine from there.

Holtz completed her brace with the game-winner in the 38th minute. Meagan Harbison (Rancho Penasquitos, Calif./Westview HS) served a short cross to the wing and Holtz buried a beautiful goal to the far post from 15 yards.

Williams scored her ninth goal in nine matches in the 83rd minute off a deflection from Holtz to make it 3-1 Waves.

"It was great to see Lynn Williams score again, but Ally Holtz was the woman of the match," Ward said. "She has been such a great player for us for so long and she deserves that."

Pepperdine held a remarkable 33-6 shot advantage in the contest, including a whopping 15-2 edge in shots on frame. Williams shattered her program single-match shots record with 14, seven of them on frame. The Fresno native has 60 shots on the year with a remarkable 33 (.550) on target. Holtz, Mandy Davis (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley HS) and Rylee Baisden (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) each recorded three shots.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Seabert (Riverside, Calif./Woodcrest Christian HS) earned the win and recorded a save. Kathie Devault corralled 12 saves on a busy day in the net for the Bulldogs.

Pepperdine closes out the non-conference slate Friday, September 27 when it welcomes Cal State Fullerton to Malibu. Match time against the Titans is set for 3:00 p.m. at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in a contest featuring live video via WaveCasts on PepperdineSports.com.

GAME NOTES: Lynn Williams held the Pepperdine single-match shots record with 10 set last season at San Francisco (10/7/12) ... With a three-point match, Williams now has a team-best 23 points, the most of any season in her standout career ... Waves improve to 3-1-1 all-time against Fresno State with the only setback coming in the first meeting of the series in 2000 (2-0) in the Central Valley ... In addition to being the first multi-goal match of her career, the five-point match is also a career best for Ally Holtz.
