Na Leads Waves in First Round at Longhorn Invitational

Grace Na continued her outstanding fall season with a 1-under 71 during Sunday's first round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, putting her into a tie for fifth place.
As a team, the Waves are in 12th place after an opening-round 307 at the par-72 University of Texas Golf Club. There are single rounds still to come on Monday and Tuesday.
Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS), a two-time All-American and West Coast Conference Player of the Year, began her round with birdies on holes two and three. She was back to even-par after seven holes, but birdied the eighth hole to go to 1-under. Then she recorded 10 straight pars to finish the round.
Na lowered her season stroke average to 71.40 and six of her 10 rounds this season have been under-par. She finished in the top five at each of her first three tournaments this season. This is the Waves' last tournament of the fall.
After Na, freshman Marissa Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS) is tied for 34th place at 75, sophomore Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) is tied for 64th at 79, sophomore Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) is tied for 72nd at 82 and junior Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) is tied for 75th at 83. Cheng and Ching each had two birdies during their rounds and Chow had 16 pars.
