Women's Golf Gets Season Started at McGuire Invitational

Grace Na and Marissa Chow had strong starts to their 2012-13 seasons on Monday, as both are in the top 10 after the first two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The Waves are tied for seventh place as a team.
Pepperdine shot 300-296 and is tied with Colorado after a 12-over 596 (300-296) at the par-73 UNM Championship Golf Course. The Waves are just eight shots out of the lead and two shots out of the top five. The third and final round is on Tuesday.
Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS), a junior who is a two-time All-American, is in second place overall with a 4-under 142. She shot a pair of 2-under 71s, recording four birdies in both of her rounds. Na, who already has two college wins to her credit, stands two strokes behind Jennifer Coleman of Colorado. The two will be in the same pairing tomorrow.
Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS), a freshman making her collegiate debut, is tied for eighth place with an even-par 146 (73-73). She also had four birdies in both rounds.
Playing as an individual, junior Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) is tied for 30th place at 150 (74-76). She had a total of five birdies on the day.
Sophomore Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) is tied for 36th place at 151 (76-75), junior Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph' HS) is tied for 66th place at 157 (80-77) and sophomore Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) is in 86th place at 164 (83-81).
