TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Grace Na and Marissa Chow shot even-par 72s to lead the Pepperdine women's golf team during Friday's second round at the NCAA East Regional, but a rough finish has set the Waves back in their bid to advance to the NCAA Championships.

After a 9-over 297, Pepperdine slipped to 10th place with a total of 587 (290-297) at the par-72 SouthWood Golf Course. The Waves need to get into the top eight, but they'll head into Saturday's final round six shots back of eighth-place Campbell and two back of ninth-place Florida State.

The Waves will tee off on Saturday at 7:45 a.m. ET / 4:45 a.m. PT along with Texas State and East Tennessee State.

After a good start, the Waves had climbed as high as fifth place on the team leaderboard. The Waves' top four players had a combined score of 4-under after each had played 10 holes. But on the final eight holes, Pepperdine's five players had a combined total of 14-over.

Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS), a senior who is a four-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year and a three-time All-American, is tied for fourth place with a 3-under 141 (69-72). Her even-par score on Friday included two birdies. If Pepperdine doesn't qualify as a team, Na could be in line to advance as an individual to the NCAA Championships. The top two players on non-qualifying teams will go on, and right now, that would be Na and Florida State's Matilda Castren, both of whom are at 3-under.

Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS) is tied for 15th place with a 1-under 143 (71-72). The sophomore had five birdies during her round today.

Junior Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) is tied for 75th place at 151 (73-78), senior Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) is tied for 84th at 152 (77-75) and junior Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) is tied for 109th at 157 (78-79). Cheng and Lee each had three birdies on Friday.

The NCAA Championships will be held May 20-23 at Tulsa (Okla.) Country Club. Pepperdine has advanced 11 times after its previous 15 trips to regionals. The last time the Waves moved on after being outside the top eight after the second round was 2009.
