AUBURN, Wash. - A rainy day in the Pacific Northwest saw the Pepperdine women's golf team's season come to its conclusion, as the Waves finished in 15th place at the NCAA West Regional.

Only the top eight teams advanced to the NCAA Championships at the par-72 Washington National Golf Course, and the Waves finished well off the pace with a total of 931 (318-299-314). A strong second round on Friday gave Pepperdine some hope, but the Waves couldn't move up any further during their final day of competition.

Freshman Grace Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS) had a shot at advancing to the NCAA Championships as an individual, but after a double-bogey on her final hole, she finished two shots back of what could have been a playoff for the final spot. Still, the West Coast Conference Player of the Year led the Waves again by tying for 18th place overall with a 7-over 223 (76-69-78).

Senior Taylore Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Laurel Springs Academy) finished an outstanding career with a tie for 41st place at 229 (76-73-80).

Junior Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) had the best round of the day for the Waves, as her 75 allowed her to move up 18 spots and finish in a tie for 102nd place at 242 (88-79-75). Freshman Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph' HS), who moved into the lineup after Danielle Kang was ruled academically ineligible at the start of the week, also tied for 102nd at 242 (78-78-86).

After a disqualification in the first round, freshman Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) shot 84-81 the next two days.

Pepperdine, which won its 10th straight WCC title and was making its 13th consecutive regional appearance, was trying for its 11th trip to the NCAA Championships.
