Women's Golf Finishes 12th at PING/ASU
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Pepperdine women's golf team finished its final tournament of the regular season on Sunday in 12th place at a very competitive PING/Arizona State Invitational.
The Waves were consistent throughout the three days of play at the par-72 Karsten Golf Course, shooting 295-298-296 for a total of 889. The ASU event featured a strong field, as the Waves were one of seven teams in the top 10 that were taking part.
Sophomore Lisa McCloskey (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery HS) shot her third straight 73, giving her a 3-over 219, good for 29th place. For the second straight round, she recorded three birdies.
After a rough first round, no one on the team played as well over the next two days as sophomore Jessica Wallace (Langley, B.C., Canada/Walnut Grove Secondary). On Sunday she fired a 3-under 69, the best round of the tournament by any of the Waves. She had four birdies and just one bogey. Wallace moved up to a tie for 34th place at 220 (79-72-69).
Sophomore Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) took 63rd place at 229 (71-77-81), while
junior Taylore Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Laurel Springs Academy) and freshman Danielle Kang (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS) both tied for 65th place at 231.
The Waves next take part in the West Coast Conference Championships on April 19-20 in Vallejo, Calif.
