Women's Golf 11th After Two Rounds at ASU
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Pepperdine women's golf team will head into Sunday's final round of the PING/Arizona State Invitational looking to improve upon its current position of 11th place.
The Waves shot a 298 during Saturday's second round at the par-72 Karsten Golf Course and fell back one spot from 10th to 11th.
This is the final tournament of the regular season for the Waves, who will compete in the West Coast Conference Championships later this month. The ASU event features a strong field, as the Waves are one of seven teams in the top 10 that are taking part.
Sophomore Lisa McCloskey (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery HS) shot her second straight 73, giving her a 2-over 146 and moving her up a few spots to a tie for 26th place. She had three birdies during her round. Sophomore Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) dropped into a tie for 37th place at 148 (71-77).
Sophomore Jessica Wallace (Langley, B.C., Canada/Walnut Grove Secondary) had the best round of the day for the Waves, as her even-par 72 moved her up into a tie for 51st place at 151 (79-72). She had four birdies during her round, including one on her final hole to get back to par.
Junior Taylore Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Laurel Springs Academy) is tied for 57th place at 152 (76-76) and freshman Danielle Kang (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS) is tied for 74th at 156 (75-81).
