Women's Golf Opens Play at SDSU Farms Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's golf team opened up Sunday's first round of the San Diego State Farms Invitational in a tie for third place, and junior Liv Cheng sits in a tie for fourth place.

The Waves shot an opening-round 303 at the par-72 Farms Golf Club and are five shots back of top-ranked USC, one back of UNLV and tied with Texas.

Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand/Macleans College) shot a 1-over 73, which included three birdies. She's tied with three other players in fourth place.

Also in the lineup, freshman Marissa Chow (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS) is tied for 13th place at 75, sophomore Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) is tied for 19th at 76, junior Grace Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS) is tied for 40th at 79 and junior Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph's HS) is tied for 69th at 84.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) is tied for 25th at 77.

This is the final regular-season event for the Waves, who play the second and third rounds on Monday and Tuesday.
