Women's Golf Starts UNLV Invitational in Third Place

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - All five players in the Pepperdine women's golf team's lineup shot 1-under or even-par during Monday's first round of the UNLV Spring Invitational, putting the Waves into third place as a team.
The Waves recorded a 3-under 285 at the par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club, putting them five strokes behind leader BYU and three behind Oklahoma. The second and third rounds are on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 8-9).
Three Pepperdine players shot 1-under 71s. Junior Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS), sophomore Danielle Kang (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS) and freshman Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) are all tied for seventh place.
Karle and Na both notched four birdies, while Cheng, Drolson and Kang each had three.
Playing as individuals, senior Martine de Gannes (Diego Martin, Trinidad) is tied for 21st after a 1-over 73 and freshman Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph's HS) is tied for 43rd at 77.
