Alina Ching of the Pepperdine women's golf team had an impressive first-round showing at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Monday, as her even-par 71 has put her into a tie for seventh place.
Competing against a powerhouse field at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club, the Waves are in seventh place as a team after an opening-round 300. All 15 teams are in Golfstat's top 50, including 10 in the top 25. The Waves, ranked 34th, are currently ahead of seven higher-ranked squads.
