The Pepperdine women's basketball team went 2-0 during exhibition play last week and now sets its eyes on the beginning of the 2006-07 season as the Waves travel to College Station, Texas and Las Vegas, Nev. for a pair of season opening road games against the Aggies and Rebels.
The Waves won the West Coast Conference (WCC) postseason tournament a year ago to earn the program's fourth bid to the NCAA Championship tournament since 2000.
Pepperdine was picked as co-preseason favorites by the league's coaches and returns four of five starters from a year ago.
Friday's season opener at #14-ranked Texas A&M will mark the third meeting between the Waves and the Aggies with each team winning on its home court.
Two days later, Pepperdine will wrap up its two-game road swing with a 2:30 p.m. game against UNLV. The game will air live on Mountain Television. The Rebels hold a 4-1 lead in the all-time series.
