2013 NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine women’s basketball unveiled its 2013 non-conference schedule as released by head coach Ryan Weisenberg today. The Waves will square off against five Big West foes in preparation for what promises to be another demanding West Coast Conference campaign.

“Our non-conference schedule will challenge us in all aspects of the game,” head coach Ryan Weisenberg said. “We will see a number of different styles that will help us prepare for a demanding WCC run this season. Some of our toughest opponents will PAC 12 contender UCLA at the Wooden Center and Big West Champion Cal Poly here at home.”

Pepperdine plays its lone exhibition game of the season when it welcomes Westmont to Malibu Wednesday, October 30 for a 7:00 p.m. contest.

For the third consecutive season, Pepperdine opens the regular season on the road at defending WAC regular season champion Seattle U. Friday November 8 in the Emerald City. The Waves defeated the Redhawks 70-64 in Malibu last December 14. Pepperdine then travels to take on rising Pac-12 power UCLA Monday, November 11 at Pauley Pavilion.

Pepperdine plays its home opener Thursday, November 14 against UC Irvine in its lone home game of the month at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Waves then embark on a tough four-game road swing through four states in the span of nine days. The odyssey begins Thursday, November 21 at South Dakota State followed two days later by a showdown at Wyoming Saturday, November 23 in Laramie, Wyo. Pepperdine then takes on Oregon Monday, November 25 in Eugene. The Waves wrap up their trip at Long Beach State Saturday, November 30 in The Pyramid.

“We will be braving a long road trip that includes tough games vs. South Dakota St., Wyoming and Oregon,” Weisenberg said. “Every team will be returning key players and are always tough in their place. This will really give us an opportunity to see how physical we will be when we are challenged throughout the season. The road trip also gives a great opportunity to bond as a team.”

Pepperdine welcomes UC Santa Barbara Tuesday, December 3 and the plays its final game before taking a break for finals Friday, December 6 at UC Riverside. The Waves return to action with back-to-back home games Cal Poly Monday, December 16 and against Northern Arizona Saturday, December 21.
