MALIBU, Calif. - The West Coast Conference Tuesday announced its 2011 All-Conference teams. Senior guard Jazmine Jackson made the all-conference squad and was voted Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year. Senior point guard Lauren Bell also was named honorable mention All-WCC.

Jackson (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep), a previous two-time WCC honorable mention, extended Pepperdine's streak of having at least one player on the first team to a 27th straight season and she is the third Wave to be named WCC Defensive Player of the Year and the first to take the honor home twice. Previous winners of the award are NeSha Thomas (2001) and Kelsey Ball (2006).

Jackson started all 16 conference games, averaging team highs in minutes per game (36.0), points (12.8) and rebounds (5.6). Frequently assigned to the opposition's top ball handlers and leading scorers, she generated 34 steals, good for an average of 2.1 per game--fifth in the conference. As a team, the Waves led the conference with 10.8 steals per game and were second with a +9.4 turnover margin during conference action.

Jackson's backcourt mate and fellow 1000-point career scorer, Bell (San Bruno, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) was recognized with an honorable mention for her work as the Waves' floor general. Bell also started all 16 conference games, finishing with a team-best 55 assists (3.4 per game) and was second on the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game.

Pepperdine (13-14, 8-6 WCC) now heads to Las Vegas, for the Zappos.com West Coast Conference Tournament as a #5 seed, set to play its first game Thursday at noon against the winner of the 8-9 contest between Loyola Marymount and San Francisco.
