Feb. 18, 2006
MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine offense was never able to get on track Saturday night in its final regular season road tilt as the Waves fell to Gonzaga, 55-38, in Spokane, Wash. With the loss, the Waves fall to 10-15 overall and 7-5 in the West Coast Conference (WCC).
A pair of Teiosha George free throws with just over six minutes remaining in the first half tied the score at 13-13 but it would be the last points Pepperdine would score in the half as Gonzaga (14-13, 9-3 WCC) took an 11-point, 24-13 lead into the locker room.
The Bulldogs opened the contest by scoring the first eight points of the night before an 11-1 Wave run gave the visitors a brief 11-9 lead.
Pepperdine would close to within five, 32-27, with 14:02 remaining in the game before Gonzaga broke the game open with a 7-1 run.
Jasmane Clarendon and George led the Waves with eight points each. George added a team-best 11 rebounds and was followed by Clarendon's 10 in the loss.
The Bulldogs received a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds from Stephanie Hawk, while Ashley Anderson chipped in with a 14 point, 10-rebound effort.
Pepperdine will close out the regular season next weekend at home with a pair of games against Saint Mary's and Santa Clara.
