THIS WEEK FOR THE WAVES: Pepperdine welcomes Brigham Young to Malibu Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. matinee at Firestone Fieldhouse. The game against the Cougars will conclude a busy stretch in the schedule of three games in seven days for the Waves.

Waves rank fourth in long distance accuracy, shooting .323 (110-170) from 3-point range during WCC play.
Seniors Kelsey Patrick (9.5) and Shay Cooney-Williams (8.8) lead Pepperdine in scoring.
Waves converting just .310 from the field when shooting inside the 3-point arc.
Pepperdine won its first WCC home opener since 2010 with a 71-67 triumph vs. USF (1/10/13).
Waves struggling to score this season, especially during league play, managing a WCC-low 50.1 points per game in 2013.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 2012-13 BULLETS

After 22 games, Pepperdine ranks third in the WCC in 3-point field goal percentage (.353).
Pepperdine ranks third in the league at the charity stripe connecting on .692 (216-312).
In 22 games, the Waves have scored 319 points (14.5 ppg) off turnovers.
Pepperdine has received plenty of scoring from its bench as Wave reserves average 20.4 points per game off the pine. Pepperdine owns a 449-401 advantage in bench scoring, including a 33-3 margin at Washington (11/27/12).
Shay Cooney-Williams had 18 assists last season in 29 games. This season the senior guard has 55 in 20 contests.
Jade McNorton surpassed her 2011-12 scoring output (46) in just seven games after playing in 28 contests with 11 starts as a sophomore.

Pepperdine Falls at Brigham Young 68-42

Pepperdine struggled offensively and Brigham Young took full advantage, rolling to a 68-42 West Coast Conference victory Saturday afternoon at the Marriott Center.

WAVES AND COUGARS

Pepperdine is set to take on Brigham Young for the seventh time in program history Saturday afternoon in Firestone Fieldhouse.
Both teams are unbeaten on their respective home floors (BYU 3-0, Pepperdine 2-0).
BYU seized a 68-42 decision in the first meeting between the two teams January 12 at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah.
In its first year as a member of the West Coast Conference, BYU took a 80-56 victory in Provo (1/12/12), but the Waves dispatched the No. 22 Cougars 61-49 in the Malibu rematch (2/2/12). Kelsey Patrick scored 13 points with six rebounds to fuel the upset.
Pepperdine won the inaugural meeting with a 67-66 victory in Firestone Fieldhouse (12/29/79).

WCC WEEK SIX RECAP: Pepperdine suffered a sweep during the sixth week of West Coast Conference play. The Waves fell to Portland on Saturday in a 73-34 home loss to Portland and then dropped a 71-50 decision at San Diego in a rare Monday night contest at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Pepperdine missed at least 50 field goals for the second time during WCC play this season against Portland (also vs. Santa Clara). The Waves shot .177 (11-62) from the field against the Pilots.
Ea Shoushtari averaged a team-high 7.5 points per game against the Pilots and Toreros, while Shay Cooney-Williams added 5.5 points for the Waves.
Pepperdine has gotten off to a pair of painfully slpw starts against Portland this season. The Waves scored 13 first half points at Portland (1/31/13) and managed 15 on their home floor.

POLL PROGNOSTICATIONS: Pepperdine was picked to finish fifth in the 2012-13 West Coast Conference Coaches Poll. The Waves did not have a selection on the preseason all-WCC team.
