Women's Hoops Comes up Short, 74-64 to Saint Mary's

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's Jennifer Lacy scored 21 points Thursday night against Saint Mary's College but it was not enough as the Waves dropped a 74-64 decision to the Gaels at McKeon Pavilion in Moraga, Calif.
At the 10:30 mark in the second half, Daphanie Kennedy connected on a three-point try to put Pepperdine (6-12, 2-3 WCC) up 47-45. Moments later Lacy would drop in a layup as the Waves went up by four. But an 11-0 run would put Saint Mary's (10-7, 2-2 WCC) back on top for good.
For Lacy it was the third time in five West Coast Conference (WCC) tilts she has gone over the 20-point mark. Kennedy finished the night second on the team in scoring with 12.
Brianna Winn led a quartet of Gaels who scored in double-figures at 17. Triola Jackson chipped in 16, while Erica Urmonaite and Evynn Van Burger scored 12 and 11, respectively.
The game was close throughout the first half as the two teams traded points. SMC took a one-point lead into the half, 26-25.
