Grace Leah Baugn (Norcrosse, Ga/Wesleyan School) matched a career-high with nine points and Bria Richardson (Hawthorne, Calif./Serra HS) chipped in eight points.

Pepperdine jumped out to a 13-4 lead, but USF roared back an used a 8-1 lead over the final two minutes of the opening period to take a 29-27 lead at the intermission. The Dons went just 2-of-12 from the floor to start the contest, but went 9-of-22 the rest of the way.

Brockway led the Waves with nine points and four rebounds in the first half, while Richardson added six points and four boards. Pepperdine did out-rebound the Dons by a 24-22 margin. USF’s Mel Khlok led all scorers with 10 points in the opening 20 minutes.

San Francisco pushed its margin to 14 in the second half 51-37, with 6:27 remaining in regulation. The Waves made a push and cut the lead to single-digits with 3:51 remaining on a pair of free throws by Amanda Lovely (Palo Alto, Calif./Archbishop Mitty HS). The Waves could not cut it to a two possession game and the Dons found an answer each time Pepperdine challenged.

Pepperdine wraps up the 2012-13 regular season Saturday, March 2 when it welcomes Saint Mary’s to Malibu for a matinee.
