Hewko and White Earn MPSF Honors

MALIBU, Calif. - The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced its postseason awards today, and two members of the Pepperdine water polo team picked up honors. Sophomore Luke Hewko and senior Danny White captured Honorable Mention accolades.
Hewko (Irvine, Calif./Servite HS) finished his impressive sophomore season as the conferences fourth leading scorer in goals per game (2.62). In only his second season as a Wave, Hewko led the team in scoring with 55 goals including a career day against Concordia where he tallied seven goals to help lead Pepperdine to a 12-11 victory.
The sophomore from Irvine ranked second on the team in steals with 20 and also added eight assists. Hewko has now found the back of the net 69 times in his short career.
White (Oxnard, Calif./Rio Mesa HS) has been a steady contributor for the Waves in each of his four years. This season he ranked 20th in the conference in goals per game and third on the team with 33, including a five-goal outburst against No. 3 UCLA.
As a sophomore, White led Pepperdine in scoring with 36 goals and is tied for 27th all-time on the Pepperdine career goal scoring ranks with 101. White started every game this season while also leading the team in steals and ranking third in assists.
Pepperdine finished the regular season tied for seventh in the MPSF and with a 9-13 record overall.
