No. 4 Waves Down Harvard, 11-2


MALIBU, Calif. – Junior Clayton Snyder led the Pepperdine men’s water polo team to victory over Harvard, 11-2, on Friday afternoon, at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.


Snyder (Seal Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) was the high scorer for the Waves (9-3,1-1) with three goals. Junior J.P. MacDonell (Redwood City, Calif./ Bellarmine Prep.) and his brother, senior Mat MacDonell (Redwood City, Calif./Bellarmine Prep.) each contributed two goals.


Pepperdine shut the Crimson out in every quarter, but the second. Harvard’s Jeff Lee put the ball in the cage at 6:08 in the period, while teammate Egen Connelly scored on a five-meter penalty shot. The first half ended with the Waves up by three, 5-2.


Snyder scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter, with the MacDonell brothers adding one each to start the Waves on a six goal scoring streak that ended with the final goal of the game by senior Mat Digges (Coronado, Calif./Coronado HS) on a five-meter penalty shot, 11-3.


Next up for the Waves is the SoCal Tournament, Oct. 11-12, at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. Pepperdine’s first game is against Redlands at 10:40 a.m.
