Four Waves Capture ACWPC All-America Honors

Seniors Matthew DeTrane (Moraga, Calif./Diablo Valley CC), Spencer Hamby (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS) and Stephen Loomis (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo HS captured honorable mention accolades after turning in strong campaigns in their collegiate curtain calls. It was the second straight honorable mention for both DeTrane and Hamby. Sophomore goalkeeper Bence Valics (Eger, Hungary/Erzsebet Secondary) earned honorable mention selection for the first time in his young career.
DeTrane made an immediate impact in his first year with the Waves, capturing 2011 All-American honors after leading the squad with 43 goals, 17 steals and 20 assists. This season he ranked second on the team in scoring with 37 goals, including a five-goal outburst against Cal and rated 16th among MPSF scoring leaders.
Hamby completed a prolific offensive career for the Waves and posted 72 goals and 26 steals and registered five games with a hat trick or better, including a pair of four-goal matches in 2012. An All-American and All-MPSF Honorable mention selection as a junior, he rated third on the team in scoring in 2012 with 23 goals.
Loomis emerged as one of the top players in the MPSF this season and shattered career highs in virtually every category in 2012. A 2012 MPSF Honorable Mention selection, he led the team with 48 goals, 18 assists and 18 steals, good for 13th place among MPSF goals leaders. During his career he recorded 95 goals, 41 assists and 42 steals.
Valics turned in a strong sophomore campaign between the Pepperdine pipes and ranked second among MPSF leaders in saves (11.71) and eighth in GAA (9.33). He finished the season with a league-high 281 saves in 24 contests, including a season-high 21 against Long Beach State. In addition he excelled in the classroom capturing MPSF All-Academic honors.
