MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's water polo team continued their MPSF season Friday afternoon as they battled the No. 1 ranked Pacific Tigers. Pepperdine was able to keep it close early but Pacific proved too much to handle as the Tigers were victorious 15-7.

After over seven minutes of scoreless play Pacific (17-3, 4-1 MPSF) finally got on the board with just four seconds left in the first quarter. Pepperdine (9-10, 1-4 MPSF) got on the board in the second quarter when freshman center Nicholas Candau (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley HS) found the back of the net, that pulled the Waves within one.The squads would alternate goals in the second quarter and would head into halftime with Pacific leading 4-2.

The Tigers would outscore Pepperdine 11-5 in the second half to secure its 17th win of the year.

Leading the way for Pepperdine were senior Danny White (Oxnard, Calif./Rio Mesa HS) and freshman Jack Harryman (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS), each had two goals on the afternoon. Also scoring for the Waves were Mike Tragitt (Clovis, Calif./Clovis HS) and Brock Leibhardt (Fremont, Calif./Washington HS).

Senior All-American Bence Valics had nine saves while Matthew Carter had two saves and a steal.

For the Tigers Balazs Erdelyi tallied five goals while Casey Fleming had a second-half hat trick.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for Pepperdine as they head to Los Angeles to take on No. 2 ranked USC on Sunday, November 10. Match time against the Trojans is set for 1:00 p.m.
