McKee Earns MPSF Weekly Award

While senior opposite Paul Carroll had his usual big match with 31 kills and 18 digs, McKee offered up a complementary performance that the Waves needed in order to earn the road victory. McKee recorded his third double-double of the season with 19 kills and 10 digs while hitting .429 (19-4-35) and adding four block assists. He had his second-most kills and his second-best mark for hitting percentage of the season.
McKee was consistent throughout the match, collecting four kills and a dig in game one, three kills and two digs in game two, four kills and three digs in game three, six kills and three digs in game four and two kills and a dig in game five. He had several key plays in the decisive game five. Tied 2-2, he had a kill and then was in on a block that gave Pepperdine the lead for good. With an 8-5 lead, he made a sensational one-handed dig that would result in another Pepperdine kill to help put the match out of reach.
It was McKee’s best performance since the second weekend of the season, when he had two double-doubles at
Pepperdine now stands at 14-2 overall and is tied for first place in the MPSF with UC Irvine with a 12-2 record. The Waves have now claimed an MPSF Player of the Week honor five times this season. McKee shared the award with Futi Tavana of BYU.
