J.D. Schleppenbach and Kasey Crider join the men's volleyball coaching staff.
Kasey Crider, who played for the Waves from 2008-11, begins his second year as a volunteer assistant for the Pepperdine men's volleyball team in 2014. Crider was a two-time All-American for the Waves and ranks second in program history with 3,989 assists.
Crider, a native of Granite Bay, Calif., ventured overseas to play professionally after graduating with a degree in journalism. The setter suited up for Boldklubben Marienlyst, located in Denmark for the 2011-12 season. There he led the squad to first place finishes in both the Nordic Cup and Danish Pokal Cup Championships.
Crider was rewarded for his professional success and was named the Danish Super League Player of the Year. He additionally picked up the Best Setter Award, and was picked as MVP of the Danish Pokal Cup Championship.
As a Wave, Crider was a first-team All-American selection by both the AVCA and Volleyball Magazine as a junior. During his sophomore campaign, the setter earned a spot on Volleyball Magazine's second team All-American squad. In 2009, Crider was an All-MPSF honorable mention performer which he upgraded to a spot on the second team in 2010.
In addition to ranking second all-time in career assists, Crider ranks fourth in assists per set (12.16) and is tied for eighth in digs per set (1.70) at Pepperdine.

Season highs for assists were 37 in three sets (4/14 vs. UCSB), 53 in four sets (4/2 vs. Stanford), and 63 in five sets (1/21 vs. UC Irvine and 4/1 vs. Pacific) ... Recorded assist-dig double-doubles against UC Irvine (3/10) and Pacific (4/1) ... Other season highs include 12 digs (3/10 vs. UC Irvine), four kills (1/10 vs. Ohio State and 2/4 vs. UCSD), three aces (3/19 vs. Rutgers-Newark) and five blocks (1/10 vs. Ohio State, 1/21 vs. UC Irvine and 3/12 vs. UC San Diego) ... PEPPERDINE 2010: Named an All-American first teamer by both the AVCA and Volleyball Magazine as a junior ... Selected to the All-MPSF second team ... Led the nation in assists (14.05) and helped Pepperdine to the nation's third-best team hitting percentage (.334) ... Played in all 104 games and started all 26 matches ... Also averaged 1.66 digs, 0.70 blocks and 0.43 kills ... Season highs for assists were 57 in three games (2/19 vs. Stanford), 74 in four games (2/26 vs. Cal State Northridge) and 76 in five games (1/29 vs. USC) ... Had four assist-dig double-doubles ... PEPPERDINE 2009: Named to Volleyball Magazine's All-American second team as a sophomore and also made the All-MPSF honorable mention squad ... Helped Pepperdine to a team hitting percentage of .343 ... His season highs for assists were 49 in three games (4/4 at UC Santa Barbara), 70 in four games (4/30 vs. Cal State Northridge) and 75 in five games (4/1 at Cal State Northridge) ... Selected as the MPSF co-Player of the Week on Jan. 19 after helping the Waves to two wins in Hawaii to open the MPSF season ... Named the AVCA and MPSF Player of the Week on March 30 after leading Pepperdine to a .402 team hitting percentage and home wins over UC San Diego and Long Beach State ... Had nine assist-dig double-doubles ... Had season highs of 14 digs in back-to-back matches at Hawaii (1/15 and 1/16) ... Other season highs were six blocks (1/30 vs. USC) and two service aces (4/16 vs. BYU).
PEPPERDINE 2008: Saw action in 21 games as a freshman, usually coming in to serve and play defense ... Recorded one dig (vs. UC Irvine on 1/23).
CLUB: Was a member of the Youth National Team in 2006 and 2007 ... Played with the NCVC 16-1s, 17-1s and 18-1s.
