Pepperdine Men's Tennis Accepts the Program's 24th NCAA Tournament Bid Today

MALIBU, Calif. -- The 25th-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis team accepted the program's 24th NCAA Tournament bid on Wednesday afternoon and will travel to host UCLA to play 46th-ranked Fresno State on either May 14 or 15. The winner will advance to play against either Oral Roberts (6-13) or third-ranked UCLA (18-5) in the second round. The Bruins captured the tournament's No. 4 seed.
Pepperdine defeated Fresno State in its only meeting of the season, 5-2, in Malibu.
In its last outing, the Waves were crowned West Coast Conference (WCC) Tournament champions for the 15th consecutive time. The WCC Player of the Year, Pedro Rico (No 21), and his doubles partner, Calle Hansen (No. 60), paces the Waves in singles action. Both men compete at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.
The Waves are 29-25 (.537) in NCAA Tournament play, while the Bulldogs are 12-8 all-time in tournament matches.
After the first two rounds of competition in the men's bracket, the round of 16 through the finals take place at the University of Tulsa on May 22-25.
