Waves Unable to Finish Match Saturday
March 19, 2005
Malibu, Calif. - After Friday's men's tennis match between Pepperdine and Purdue was suspended due to rains, the teams had hoped be able to finish the match Saturday morning. Weather still failed to cooperate and forced the cancellation of the match.
Pepperdine held a 1-0 advantage, but was two games or less from from three other wins. Scott Doerner was just one point away from victory when play was halted Friday. All other Waves won their first set and were leading in the second, including Pedro Rico's 4-1 and Ivor Lovrak's 4-2 leads.
The match was hoped to be resumed and completed at 9:30 Saturday morning, but officials said the courts would not be playable before the Boilermakers' flight back to Indiana. The match will not be rescheduled.
