No. 3 Baylor Defeats No. 21 Pepperdine 6-1 On Sunday Afternoon

Sophomore Pedro Rico, ranked No. 38 in the latest ITA rankings, posted an upset victory over No. 8 Benjamin Becker of Baylor in No. 1 singles play during the Waves' 6-1 loss to the No. 3-ranked Bears Sunday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu. Rico resgitered a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 win over Becker.

The loss dropped Pepperdine, ranked No. 21 nationally, to 7-4 on the season, while Baylor improved to 9-2 on the year.

The Bears won all three doubles matches and posted victories at No. 2 through No. 6 in singles action. Benedikt Dorsch, the country's top-ranked player, defeated senior Calle Hansen 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

The Waves are next in action on Sunday, March 7, when they travel to Tempe, Arizona, to compete in the Arizona State Invitational.
