#10 Waves Rise Above Bulldogs, 6-1

SPOKANE, Wash. – The #10 Pepperdine men’s tennis team topped Gonzaga 6-1 to win its seventh straight and improve to a perfect 4-0 in West Coast Conference play.
The Waves (17-4 overall) swept the doubles point before emerging with wins in five of the six singles contests.
Sebastian Fanselow (Essen, Germany/Kaplan College Prep) and Alex Sarkissian (Glendale, Calif./Glendale CC) played in the top spot in the doubles lineup and defeated Olivier Jamin and Jack Schoebel, 8-2.
Mousheg Hovhannisyan (North Hollywood, Calif./Continental Academy) and David Sofaer (Bellevue Hill, Australia/Sydney Distance Education HS) extended their win streak to five matches after downing Pablo Perez Mosquera and Alvaro Nazal to clinch the doubles point.
In singles Sarkissian got the Waves started off on a good note, posting a 6-0, 6-1 decision on court two. Fanselow followed soon after, topping Nazal 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 match.
Kento Tanaka-Tamaki (Kihei, Hawaii/St. Anthony Junior-Senior HS) worked his way into the lineup and won 6-4, 6-1 versus Vincent Varas, while Hovhannisyan topped Levin Guillermo – brother of Pepperdine’s women’s tennis ace Lorraine Guillermo – 6-4, 6-4.
Sofaer accounted for the final win of the day, edging Smith 7-5, 7-6.
Pepperdine concludes the week’s action on Saturday at Portland.
