Men's Tennis Defeats TCU 5-2

FORT WORTH, Texas – The #12 Pepperdine men’s tennis team picked up its second win of the week, topping #51-ranked TCU 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon. Although the Horned Frogs picked up the doubles point, the Waves rebounded convincingly in singles. Pepperdine, coming off a 5-2 triumph against Florida State on Sunday, improves to 8-2 on the season with today’s win over TCU. The Horned Frogs fall to 7-4. The home team took the early advantage, sweeping the doubles point to take a one point lead. The Waves promptly took back control in singles, winning all six opening sets. Sebastian Fanselow (Essen, Germany/Kaplan College Prep), listed at #7 in the ITA singles poll, downed Nick Chappell 6-2, 6-1, while newly ranked #87 Francis Alcantara (Cagayan de Oro, Philippines/Fresno State) posted a straight-set victory over Orlando Superlano. Mousheg Hovhannisyan (North Hollywood, Calif./Continental Academy) and Alex Sarkissian (Glendale, Calif./Glendale CC) both won in two sets to clinch the team victory for the Waves. Rounding out Pepperdine’s wins for the day was Finn Tearney (Wellington, New Zealand/Wellington College), who chalked a 6-3, 6-4 decision against Arnau Dachs. The Waves’ Spring Break schedule continues on Thursday, Feb. 28 with a dual at San Diego State, followed by the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship in La Jolla, Calif. on March 1-3. Pepperdine vs TCU
