PALM SPRINGS, Calif.Pedro Leme’s run at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic ended today in the quarterfinals, concluding the tournament portion of the season for the Pepperdine men’s tennis team. The Waves open the dual season next week Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Washington.

Leme (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Mackenzie Tambore) made his way to the semifinals by gritting out two daunting three-set wins yesterday. The sophomore opened action today with a straight-set triumph over Diogo Rocha of Denver.

In the semifinals, he took the first set 6-3 against Facundo Lugones of TCU, but dropped the next two frames 6-5, 6-4 to make his exit,

Freshmen Tom Hill (Birmingham, England/K12 International Academy) and Alex Giannini (Los Angeles, Calif./Gorman Learning Center) lost a narrow 6-4 decision in doubles to a Texas Christian pair.

The Waves open the dual season at Washington on Tuesday before hosting Alabama, San Diego and Cal for the ITA Kick-Off weekend on Jan. 24-25.
